I have over 25 years working as a therapist, in the field of mental health. While I have lots of training and experience, I find that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between clients and their therapist. I work hard to understand your point of view, and will help you grow as a person from there.
Mental health difficulties can make us want to avoid things in life, and this avoidance can make our lives complicated and unfulfilling over time. It can be difficult to get out of bed and get things done, and I have training, experience, and understanding that can help you make your life worth living again. Therapy can be work but together we will strive to get you to where you want to be in life, step by step.
We will construct goals, small ones at first, and build up from there. Whether it is working together on goals as a family, or working with you as a parent, or whether you’re a teen and trying to figure out who you are and where you want to go in life, relationship building and goal setting are key components in successful therapy. And when appropriate I try to bring a sense of humour and irony into the room.
